FunkyMap is a creative platform designed to reshape the world through imagination. We enable users to contribute fun, artistic, and alternative map layers, transforming the boring geography of the everyday into a playground of visual ideas.
At FunkyMap, our slogan is "Reshape the World." Traditional maps tell you where things are, but they rarely capture how places feel or how they could be. We believe that creativity plays a crucial role in defining the character of a location. Whether it's reimagining a city park as a fantasy realm, marking the best spots for street art, or creating humorous overlays of your neighborhood, our platform allows users to document and share these unique visual perspectives. By enabling individuals to upload creative map content, we aim to create a dynamic, ever-evolving atlas that reflects the diverse humor, art, and culture of our world.
FunkyMap is powered by a robust ASP.NET Core API backend, integrated with Entity Framework Core for efficient database management using SQL Server. The frontend features an interactive Leaflet map where users can pinpoint locations and upload creative content (including audio soundscapes and visual markers), which is securely stored on Cloudinary. Authentication is handled externally via Google or Twitch, ensuring secure and anonymous access.
As an Austria-based service, FunkyMap fully complies with the Austrian E-Commerce Act (ECG), EU Digital Services Act (DSA), and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Pursuant to the Austrian E-Commerce Act (ECG) §16 and the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) Article 4, FunkyMap functions solely as a hosting provider and intermediary service for user-generated content.
Prohibited activities include uploading content that is illegal, contains hate speech, violates copyright, or is harmful/abusive.
By uploading content to FunkyMap, you grant us a license to display your content on the map.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Austria.
