A place to have fun with geography.
Plant sounds, drop signals, and hear the planet.
FunkyMap is a live, crowdsourced sound map of the world. Instead of scrolling through photos of a place, you can actually hear it — a rainstorm in Lisbon, market chatter in Marrakech, wind through Icelandic hills, or a subway platform in Tokyo at rush hour.
Anyone can “plant” a short audio recording at a real location on the map. Other visitors discover it by exploring nearby, listening in, and voting the best recordings to the top — the more upvotes a sound gets, the bigger and more visible its marker becomes.
It's part field-recording archive, part travel tool, part ambient-sound rabbit hole. Every sound was recorded and uploaded by a real person, tied to a real place, and reviewed against our Community Guidelines before it goes live.
