This Privacy Policy explains how FunkyMap collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use funkymap.com and its related services, referred to as the Service. We are committed to processing your data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and applicable Austrian data protection law.
Who We Are
FunkyMap is operated by Abbas Vosoughi, Unesco Esplanade 10/1604, 8020 Graz, Austria. For any questions or requests relating to this Privacy Policy, you can reach us through our Contact page.
Information We Collect
When you sign in to FunkyMap, we collect the display name, email address, and unique account identifier provided by your chosen sign-in provider, Google or Twitch. We also collect your IP address and general country location, used for security and fraud prevention, along with timestamps of account creation and activity. If you choose to upload content, we store the audio, images, and descriptions you submit, along with the location you associate them with. We do not collect or store passwords, as authentication is handled entirely by our sign-in providers.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate your account and keep you signed in, to display your uploaded content on the map for other users to discover, to maintain the integrity of our voting system and prevent abuse, to communicate with you regarding your account when necessary, and to comply with our legal obligations. If we introduce advertising on the Service in the future, we will use cookie-based consent to determine whether relevant ads may be shown to you, as described in our Cookie Policy.
Third-Party Services We Rely On
Operating FunkyMap requires the use of several trusted infrastructure providers. Cloudinary stores and delivers the audio and image files you upload. Contabo hosts our application server, located in Germany. Cloudflare provides content delivery, security, and protection against malicious traffic. Google and Twitch handle authentication when you sign in, and we never see or store your password. Each of these providers processes a limited amount of data strictly to perform their function, and each maintains its own data protection obligations under applicable law.
Cookies
FunkyMap uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cookie consent choice. With your consent, we may in the future also use cookies to support advertising or analytics. Full details are available on our Cookie Policy page.
How Long We Retain Your Data
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active on the Service. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data within thirty days, except where a longer retention period is required to comply with a legal obligation or to resolve disputes.
Your Rights Under GDPR
As a data subject under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate data, to request deletion of your data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our Contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority, the Datenschutzbehörde, if you believe your data has been processed unlawfully.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including the use of encrypted connections and secure third-party infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
FunkyMap is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of sixteen. We do not knowingly collect personal data from users under this age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent measures recognized under GDPR, to protect your data to the same standard as within the EEA.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our practices, our services, or applicable law. Any material changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page.
